In the Beginning – Our Lord’s Memorial
The annual observance of our Lord’s Memorial and his sacrifice on the cross gives us the privilege to once again focus on God’s indescribable gift. We marvel that “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NASB). … read more

Jesus, Lord of Life – Jesus’ Authority Over All
Jesus embodied all the qualities that define our Heavenly Father’s character. Jehovah regarded Moses as a friend (Exodus 33:11) and entrusted him with the task of introducing His law to the Israelites, but “Grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). Although a great prophet, Moses had no personal power and did not command authority simply by his presence, as Jesus did. … read more
Bread and Cup – This Do in Remembrance of Me
There are hints of the Memorial of our Lord’s sacrificial death early in the Old Testament. This can be seen in the three phases of Joseph’s life after reaching Egypt. (1) Joseph began in Egypt as a slave in the house of Potiphar, Captain of the (Royal) Guard. There, he progressively advanced in authority. This Captain “made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand” (Genesis 39:4). (2) When Joseph was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife, he was humbled and put into the King’s [Pharaoh’s] Prison. Yet, “the keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under [Joseph’s] hand, because Jehovah was with him; and that which he did, Jehovah made it to prosper” (Genesis 39:23). Some two years later, Pharaoh had two dreams of seven good things and seven bad things. Joseph was called to interpret them, which he did. (3) As a result, he was then exalted to the second-highest position in the land of Egypt. … read more

Removing Leaven from our Characters – Memorial
For the Passover celebration, God instructed the Israelites to eat unleavened bread for seven days and to remove leaven from their homes. Why did they need to do this? Leaven in the scriptures represents sin and thus, its removal pictures the removal of sin. We will explore why leaven needed to be removed before the Passover, the types of leaven described in the New Testament, and explain why we must purge leaven from our character. Additionally, we will examine the need for godly conduct in our interactions, during our trials, and in our character development. … read more

Christ Within
A living Christ, of wondrous birth, Who trod the dreary paths of earth, Shedding abroad His holy
light
Through the deep gloom of sin’s dark night,
A dying Christ, whose precious blood Seals the poor sinner’s peace with God; And fills the soul
with fullest love, Like to the joy prepared above.
A Christ ascended — all is done, A world redeemed, a victory won. With angel hosts, a glorious
throng, We’ll sing with joy salvation’s song.
A living Christ our spirits need, A loving Christ our souls to feed; A dying Christ, our ransom He,
A risen Christ to set us free.
This, too, our need — a Christ within, A life with God, afar from sin,
A Christ whose love our hearts shall fill, And quite subdue our wayward will.
