Judgment upon Amalek and Others Ancient Judgments

Judgment upon Amalek and Others Ancient Judgments

Amalek (“dweller in a valley,” Smith’s Bible Dictionary) was a grandson of Esau by a concubine (Genesis 36:10‑12). His descendants raised flocks and herds in the Sinai desert. When the Israelite refugees first fled Egypt, Amalekites ambushed them (but were defeated). As a result, Jehovah swore their doom (Exodus 17:8‑16). The Amalekite power was later broken by King Saul, who then disobeyed God’s command and spared their king Agag and the best of Amalekite flocks (1 Samuel 15). … read more

The Expansion of Israel’s Borders – Recent Events

The Expansion of Israel’s Borders

The Euphrates River extends in a 1740-mile-long southeasterly arc from about 350 miles north of Israel to about 930 miles to its east. It originates in Turkey and empties into the Persian Gulf.

The border of the land promised to Abraham, “from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates,” is worth considering because it seems a bit ambiguous in scripture and, depending on where it is placed, dramatically changes the size of the land God promised to Abraham. Whether we place the line of this promised border due northeast or east to the Euphrates River, it is evident that God promised to expand Israel’s present‑day borders considerably. … read more

Some Options – On the Other Hand

Some Options – On the Other Hand

This subject involves interpretation. We will observe with time how things proceed with Israel toward the opening of the Kingdom. However, our opinion is that (1) Israel effectively has the land of promise and is in the process of securing control of it, with one exception, namely a narrow corridor leading upward to the River Euphrates. (2) Israel’s borders with Egypt and Jordan appear to be resolved. (3) The prophesied Arab wars against Israel are in the past. Following are some texts concerning this. … read more

The Dispersed Remnant Returns – A Golden Age of Prophecy

The Dispersed Remnant Returns – A Golden Age of Prophecy

The return of the Jews from two millennia of diaspora is ongoing and will become increasingly dramatic. The completed vision, and the hope associated with it, strengthen our faith.

In our banner scripture, the Prophet Isaiah mentions an “ensign” (signal) will be raised, and as a result, mass Jewish repatriation to the land of Israel. What may constitute this signal and cause Jews to return to Eretz Israel? Here, we offer four possibilities that can occur in overlapping succession, according to the faith of the repatriated individuals. … read more

Deploying the New Covenant in Israel – A Covenant to Come

Deploying the New Covenant in Israel – A Covenant to Come

In October 2004, a group of more than 70 rabbis tried to reestablish the Sanhedrin, the high tribunal of ancient Israel disbanded in the 5th century following Christian persecution of Jews. The goal of this modern Sanhedrin was to act as the upper house of the Knesset and become the supreme court of Israel. Their agenda included rebuilding the temple on the Temple Mount, using the Torah to make moral decisions for Israel, identifying the Messiah, and announcing him to all of Israel. Generally opposed by Israel’s ultra‑Orthodox Jews (the Haredi) and following four years of debate, the group’s leader resigned, bringing the effort to a close. … read more

Israel Entering God’s Kingdom – Showers Upon the Grass

Israel Entering God’s Kingdom – Showers Upon the Grass

We are progressing toward God’s Kingdom. There is time to pass yet. But circumstances respecting Israel are progressing. There is a lovely song in Hebrew, sung by a throng of Israelis in 2018, marking the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel. “Hallelujah” is the title and the oft‑repeated word of the song, praising God.

Things look good for Israel. Since the crisis of October 7, 2023, Israel’s enemies have been weakened — Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and now Syria. We watch with interest what may develop in the years approaching. However, it is generally agreed that the introduction to the kingdom will follow a final conflict in Israel, as described in Ezekiel 38. … read more

Israel, God’s Inheritance – A Chosen People

Israel, God’s Inheritance – A Chosen People

When we think of an inheritance, we think of an heir receiving property or possessions from a deceased family member or friend. The statement that God gets an inheritance raises a natural question: From whom does He receive this inheritance?

In Hebrew, “inheritance” connotes a “portion” or “share.” In this light, Jehovah’s inheritance is that portion or share He receives in the outworking of His Divine Plan.  … read more

The Sanctification of Israel – Preparing for the Kingdom

The Sanctification of Israel – Preparing for the Kingdom

Today, the Nation of Israel is tightly connected with global trade. Its GDP per capita is comparable to other highly developed countries, placing it among the top 20 globally. Israel has become known for its innovation and technology, leading to a thriving start‑up economy and attracting significant foreign investment. It ranks high in the number of scientists, engineers, venture capital investments, and research organizations. In many ways, the tiny nation of Israel has risen above most nations in just 77 years since its founding. But this secular success is only part of God’s plan for the Nation of Israel. … read more
