FOUNDATION TRUTHS – Part One
A critical part of any building is the foundation. If it is anchored securely, well-designed, and well-constructed, then it provides a stable footing for the structure. Storms and earthquakes might strike the building but the structure will withstand the test. Jesus emphasized the importance of building our Christian character upon the proper foundation in Matthew 7:24-25 (NASB):
How can a thinking person discover beyond reasonable doubt whether the Bible is the word of God, the one and only standard of faith and truth? One may be gin by comparing the Bible’s record of history with what is preserved in ancient records from two or more thousand years ago.
Man’s earliest questions “How and Why?” owe much to the inspired author of Genesis. When we contrast Genesis with creation accounts from other lands, it is apparent that the Bible’s account is anchored in rational thought.
Believing in the existence of a supreme intelligent being as the creator of the universe, the earth, and all its inhabitants, the next step in developing our faith is to determine the character of this awesome being. An understanding of God’s character will aid us in understanding His plan and the reasons behind its various elements. The Scriptures describe the creator as a God of Justice, Wisdom, Power, and Love. Psalms 89:14

After the Soviet Union dissolved in 1991, Ukraine declared independence. Crimea became part of the newly independent Ukraine, which led to tensions with Russia. Russia’s Black Sea Fleet was based on the peninsula and worries surfaced of possible armed skirmishes. Crimean Tartars began returning from exile and resettling in Crimea. Ukraine’s constitution allowed Crimea certain autonomy, including a local group to deal with matters affecting that region only.
The meaning of the word “nature” in regard to man is given as “the fundamental qualities of a person or thing; identity or essential character” (www.dictionary.com).David is comparing God with man. He states “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,” how small is man by comparison (Psalm 8:3 NASB).
So important is the lesson of sin that the Lord has allowed mankind more than 6000 years to experience the effect of sin and death so that the lesson will never be for- gotten. This experience during the present life is critical. By it and the help of Christ’s earthly kingdom, mankind will be able to transform their hearts and minds, putting off sin, and once again reflect the image of their Creator.
Down through the ages of human history, people have been unwilling to accept the finality that death brings to life. Because people do not want to believe that death ends their life, it is not surprising that the subject of death and the afterlife has been a matter of intense concern and speculation.
